Impala’s client was building a new home in one of Sydney’s waterfront suburbs. The client commissioned Jackson Teece to design joinery throughout the house, including the kitchen, laundry, vanities, study, bedrooms and wardrobes. Impala built and installed the joinery on this project. The surroundings were a big influence on the colour scheme and materials used throughout the home, with the home owners favouring colours reflecting the water and organic timber veneers with natural stone.
Bathroom features to note:
1. The bathroom colours reflect the natural surrounds, the tiles are reminiscent of pebbles and the timber used is light and warm to complement the blue hues used elsewhere in joinery throughout the house.
2. The bathrooms were to be luxurious and light. The timber joinery allows for display, but also houses mirrored shaving cabinets to conceal everyday items. The client did not want traditional bathroom joinery such as a vanity unit. Each bathroom has a modern pedestal basin and wall mounted taps to allow for ease of cleaning and to achieve a simple contemporary design.
3. Lighting was important to the client, so natural light where possible was to be imparted into the bathrooms. Floor to ceiling sandblasted windows were used as were recessed LED downlights and each shaving cabinet has its own lighting for helping with tasks such as make-up and grooming.
