A new build for a detached home allowed the designer to ‘wow’ with modern integrated design and a statement island bench creating a kitchen that brings together functionality and aesthetics.
The kitchen was located to the north of the site to maximise natural light. The island bench was re oriented to make it a feature and provide multi use functionality.
It was decided that natural timber veneer would be best suited for the doors to introduce warmth and texture. Porcelain was chosen for the benchtop and island to allow for concealed drawer storage on the island bench and provide a robust but stylish surface.
A separate appliance pantry keeps appliances off the bench so the kitchen is sleek and easy to keep tidy.
To achieve a seamless integrated appliances and hardware were carefully selected. Blum hardware was chosen throughout the design along with Miele integrated appliances.
The wall oven is concealed by a pocket door to make the kitchen streamlined and modern.
Intelligent push to open hardware was used throughout including the integrated fridge and freezer and the large overhead sliding doors above the window.
Hidden drawers faced in porcelain on the island bench provide ample storage but remain hidden allowing the angled waterfall to dominate the design. The feature island design was achieved utilising steel reinforcing for the seating area and Blum hardware for the integrated drawers.
