Our client owned a lovely character home in Sydney’s East. The home was an older style, however the client was restoring the house and adding modern finishes and custom cabinets. There was also some building work to be undertaken to improve the floor plan to accommodate the family of fours’ requirements. Impala was initially commissioned to design and build the kitchen, entertainment unit and study area and then subsequently wardrobes.
In the kitchen space, the client requested a neutral back drop and natural brown tones, working with the natural stone used on the floor. Impala recommended white polyurethane doors for the tall cabinets and timber veneer panels for the island unit, with a modern stone top.
The kitchen faces a lovely view so the orientation of the cooktop and the sink were important. The bench appliances were placed so the chef can enjoy the outlook whilst cooking or washing up. Above the cooktop in the island is a contemporary rangehood, designed to appear like a sleek light fitting. The wall oven, steam oven and microwave are all built in at an ergonomic height behind the island. To the left of these appliances is a pantry which has a door activated light. Constructed in polyurethane, timber veneer and with a stone bench top, the kitchen finishes have practicality as well as meeting the client’s style brief.
