Family Friendly Bathroom
From Retro Nightmare to this Family Friendly Bathroom, a young family in Sydney’s leafy
Hills district had a kitchen and bathroom from the 1960’s in dire need of a renovation. Crazy
colours, leaking fittings and peeling wallpaper meant the renovation was urgent before the
arrival of the client’s second baby so timeline management was crucial to the success of this
project.
The wall between the existing bathroom and toilet was removed to make way for an airy
open space that houses a large bath and walk in shower with plenty of room for the parents
to enjoy that was also practical for a toddler and new born baby.
The curvaceous shower screen is gorgeous and ties in with the curved shaving mirror with
hidden storage. The layout is highly functional so no water escapes the walk in shower, an
important factor in a bathroom used by young children. The functional niche stores
shampoo and body wash to keep the bathroom clutter free.
White wall tiles were chosen in a large format and feature size behind the vanity to
maximise the light in the room which was the highest priority when it came to aesthetics.
The textured grey tiles are a practical choice for a family bathroom. Gold fittings and a
bespke timber vanity were used to add warmth to the white, bright space and create
interest and personality.
The before photo demonstrates the amazing transformation of this family bathroom.
