Our client was building an architecturally designed home on Sydney’s north shore. The home was to be contemporary and modern, but not something that would date. The client favoured neutral hues and natural tones. The kitchen was designed to be practical and minimum fuss, yet not boring. The substantial island unit has thick timber veneer panels at either end to balance the design and add texture. The splashback height is in proportion with the room space and adds interest just as the thick bench top balances the kitchen size. Wardrobes were kept simple to blend into the wall space, inserts were cut down the side of the doors eliminating the need to fix handles and to maintain the seamless look.
