A young family in Hornsby Heights went from a dark, dingy kitchen with no storage or flow to a light bright kitchen that is the heart of their open plan home.
The problems:
The existing U shape design took up lots of the footprint but provided little storage as there were several under utilised corner cabinets.
A walled in pantry was too deep making storage hard to access.
Outdated finishes of granite benchtops and timber doors made the kitchen dark and unappealing.
Appliances took precious benchspace and made the kitchen appear cluttered.
The solution:
A gorgeous island bench opened up the space and provides a place for the family to sit and eat together.
Corner drawers instead of a corner cabinet and the use of drawers everywhere make high capacity storage that is easily reached.
The walled in pantry was removed and replaced with a pantry with pullout drawers to maximise storage and make access ergonomic.
A wingline cabinet houses the appliances keeping the benches clean and clutter free.
Hamptons fittings such as a butlers sink, plate rack, shell handles and shaker doors were chosen to suit the nature of the house which also create a light filled inviting space.
