A family kitchen in Sydney’s Northern Beaches needed an update to make the most of an open plan living space and stunning outdoor entertaining area. A relaxed palette with organic shapes and textures creates a coastal retreat in this quality modern home. A stunning artwork of sentimental value to the family which was commissioned by artist Amanda Tye of Sydney Rd Galleries is the hero of the dine-in space and captures the feel of the surrounding area.
The client wanted:
Walls were removed, making the kitchen twice the size of the original footprint and now overlooks the pool and alfresco living area, making the most of the sunlit coastal skyline and leafy Sydney suburban views.
V-Groove panelling creates a modern coastal aesthetic with signature timber handles and feature joinery adding warmth and sophistication. Timber open shelves display an assortment of greenery and add interest to the space.
Drawers under the cooktop maximise functional storage and the timber veneer drawer fronts with finger pulls are streamlined and fuss free for this busy family.
Engineered stone looks sleek and is easy to care for with the same material being used on the splashback for easy cleaning.
A separate appliance pantry keeps appliances off the bench, so the kitchen is sleek and easy to keep tidy with excellent storage for appliances and dry goods. Pull-out drawers underneath house crockery for toast and tea making, keeping this breakfast zone out of the main working area of the kitchen. Wingline doors are a robust hardware solution to this hardworking inclusion to the kitchen.
An eat in island bench was included as is a dining room adjacent to the kitchen. Timber veneer was curved to create the dining space that easily seats four people for a casual meal or is fabulous when entertaining.
The sliding door to the pantry is highly functional and provides easy access to consumables from all areas of the kitchen and is adjacent to the cooking and preparation zones.
Bespoke joinery beside the fireplace adds elegance and houses the workings for the Smart TV which displays photos taken by family when not in use. The floating timber shelves house more greenery to tie into the green outdoors with knick-knacks and books to make it feel like home. An inviting place to sit by the fire on a winter’s day or night or make the most of the summer sun in this dream home. The lifestyle joinery ties in with the kitchen and creates a unified living area.
