Impala’s client had recently purchased a contemporary split level home with a sleek design and modern finishes throughout. The couple wanted to remove the existing kitchen and design a kitchen to suit their taste and preferences. The client brief was for a contemporary kitchen, but not white, something sympathetic with the existing floor tiles and incorporating a large island unit with seating.
Impala designed a kitchen with a substantial island unit which incorporated a sink and gas cook top, enabling the cook to converse with others whilst preparing meals. Cooking fumes are extracted through the suspended island canopy overhead. The island affords much storage and makes use of soft-closing drawers. A large ice-maker fridge is flanked by tall pantries and a 900mm wide oven was placed at an ergonomic height. Mirror was used in the splashback areas to reflect the open space and expansive views from the kitchen.
Impala designed a kitchen with high gloss charcoal-coloured polyurethane doors, matching the hue of the floor tiles. A thick stone top was installed to balance the size of the island and a light concrete grey was used in keeping with the colour scheme requested.
