Impala’s client was renovating their large home in Castle Hill.Part of the renovation work involved reconfiguring the main bathroom and creating space for a free-standing bath tub and separate shower. The old bathroom had a shower over spa-tub configuration which the owners disliked as the tub took up too much space and the shower was uncomfortable to use.
The client commissioned Impala to design joinery throughout the house, including the kitchen, laundry, vanities, outdoor kitchen, bedrooms and wardrobes. Impala designed, built and installed the joinery on this project as well as co-ordinating all associated trade-work. Although built in the 80’s, the home is a contemporary split level master-built dwelling, which enabled contemporary design and finishes. The client loved the finishings in our Drummoyne showroom and requested these in their design brief. The metallic tiles, corian moulded basin and dark nib-stone wall were all incorporated. Andrew Wright (Impala’s designer) came up with the layout which involved knocking out walls and building new nib walls for the shower, in-wall cistern toilet and wall mounted vanities. The large shaving cabinet is a practical storage unit as well as display cabinet. The mirrors are large and slide across the open teak shelving – eliminating the need for small hinged shaving cabinet doors. LED strip light was installed to allow for task and ambient lighting. Black fittings were used, including a striking free-standing bath tub, black tapware from Astra Walker and a floor to ceiling Hydrotherm heated towel rail. The double basins are moulded in corian, great for cleaning. The result is a spacious and practical bathroom for the family’s three children.
