Impala’s client was renovating a semi-detached home in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs. The plan was to enlarge the existing kitchen and to provide storage and seating to accommodate the family with two small children. The brief was for a contemporary look using warm, natural materials and allowing room for display to personalise the space.
Impala designed a kitchen using a combination of wenge stained timber veneer and white polyurethane doors. The bench top is natural granite which works well to bring warmth into the space and ties together the cabinets and flooring. The kitchen splashback was kept practical, contemporary and simple, using toughened glass. The kitchen design balances symmetry and proportion using tall, middle and floor height joinery. The island unit allows seating and adds extra bench space for preparing and serving meals.
Impala also designed an entertainment unit in keeping with the kitchen joinery.
